Halcyon High School, Soroti Campus, has officially flagged off a total of 211 Senior Six candidates to sit for this year’s Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations.
The event, held on November 7th, was marked by a successful candidate briefing conducted in accordance with Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) guidelines.

Speaking during the briefing, Head Teacher Mr. Onyait Paul Mark, who also serves as head of Halcyon Examination Centre U1376, expressed confidence in his candidates’ readiness, attributing their preparedness to continuous academic and moral guidance throughout the term.

“We have been preparing our students through several tests and internal exams, and I am confident they will perform excellently,” said Mr. Onyait.
He revealed that the school registered 110 male and 101 female candidates all physically fit, with none registered under special needs.

He thanked teachers for their tireless efforts in mentoring the students and appreciated parents for their financial and moral support.
Mr. Onyait further noted that the UCE examinations had concluded successfully, with all Senior Four candidates completing their exams peacefully and returning home.
He explained that the S6 briefing marked the final phase of the candidates’ high school journey, during which students were taken through the do’s and don’ts of UNEB examinations.
He emphasized the importance of discipline, timekeeping, and focus, warning candidates against any form of examination malpractice.
He also applauded God for His protection, wisdom, and guidance to the entire Halcyon community.
This year’s school theme “Dream Big and Work Hard” continues to inspire both staff and students to aim for academic excellence.
Mr. Onyait also encouraged invigilators to execute their duties diligently, calling for maximum cooperation among teachers, students, invigilators, and administrators to ensure a smooth examination process.
“Our students have been taken through a series of tests and seminars. I want to appreciate the teachers for their great work and thank the invigilators for their time and commitment,” he added.
In a bid to motivate outstanding performance, the Head Teacher announced that the school would reward top achievers:
- Students scoring 20 points will receive a brand-new smart laptop and UGX 300,000,
- Those with 19 points will earn UGX 200,000, and
- Those attaining 18 points will be awarded UGX 100,000 each.
The Chief Invigilator, Mr. Ronald Soita, encouraged candidates to remain calm and focused, assuring them that the examination is simply another test of what they have learned.
“Do not fear invigilators; we are here to support you. This exam is not to end your life but to start a new one. Stay strong and confident,” said Mr. Soita.
Deputy Director of Studies, Ms. Immaculate Anumo, advised students to trust in God, maintain confidence, and balance their revision with rest.
“You have worked hard, and God who has seen your efforts will not forget you. Be confident, stay strong, and remember your Creator in everything you do,” she told the candidates.
Some of the candidates also expressed readiness and optimism.
Ibelibelo David, a HED/ICT student, said they were well-prepared through lessons, seminars, and group discussions, while Akiror Irene, an HLD/ICT student, vowed to “write kilometers of answers and smash the exams,” thanking God, her teachers, and parents for their support.
