Independent Kapir County MP aspirant Hon. Engeku Simon Julius has urged the Iteso community to stand firm in supporting President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, describing him as a visionary and capable leader who has steered Uganda toward peace, stability, and national development.
He commended the government for maintaining peace and stability, and for allowing independent candidates especially those who lost in the NRM primaries to participate freely in the elections.

“Without the wise leadership of President Museveni, Uganda would not be in this peaceful and stable state we enjoy today,” Engeku remarked. “Let us not be deceived by those who come with promises and money. We must vote for someone who focuses on real development and empowerment of the people.”

He emphasized that President Museveni’s government has listened to the concerns of the Iteso people, especially regarding the long-standing issue of compensation, and has shown commitment to addressing them.
“The President has heard our cry as Iteso. He listens and responds to our needs. That is the kind of leadership we should continue to support,” he added.

Engeku cautioned voters against electing leaders based on short-term material gain, noting that such decisions often lead to regret.
“When you vote for someone just because he has brought money, that money will soon be finished. But a leader who focuses on development will empower your lives for the long term,” he said.
He also appealed to all political leaders and supporters across different affiliations to embrace peace and unity during the elections.
“Voting does not require fighting it is a democratic exercise. After elections, we shall still live together as one community. Let us vote peacefully, respect each other’s choices, and avoid actions that may lead to jail or injury,” Engeku urged.
The aspirant, who lost the NRM party flag bearer race to the incumbent MP Hon. Abraham Isamat, said his decision to run as an independent candidate using the chair as his election symbol was driven by overwhelming demand from the people of Kapir.
“The voters themselves called upon me to stand again. They believe I can address their challenges in health, education, accountability, community empowerment, and poverty eradication,” Engeku stated.
He reaffirmed his commitment to serve the people of Kapir County with integrity and dedication, promising to focus on grassroots development and inclusive leadership that unites all Iteso under a common goal of progress.
