The National Unity Platform (NUP) has officially released the final list of successful parliamentary candidates for the Teso Sub-Region, following the conclusion of petitions and re-evaluations in various constituencies across the Eastern Region.
In a statement posted on the party’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, NUP announced: “FINAL LIST OF MP CANDIDATES FOR EASTERN REGION (Following the handling of petitions and re-evaluating candidates in selected constituencies). The successful candidates may now proceed to get the official endorsement by the Party on their nomination forms at the Party Headquarters, Makerere-Kavule.”

This marks the final phase of the internal vetting process that began in August 2025, aimed at ensuring transparency and fairness in the party’s primary selections.

The process involved rigorous background checks, candidate interviews, and the resolution of disputes that arose from the initial vetting exercises.
According to sources within the NUP Secretariat, the finalized list for Teso Sub-Region features a mix of youthful aspirants and experienced political figures drawn from Soroti, Katakwi, Kumi, Ngora, Bukedea, Serere, and Amuria districts.

The party emphasized that the final decision reflects the will of the people and aligns with NUP’s mission to promote accountable and people-centered leadership.
NUP spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi congratulated the successful candidates, urging them to maintain unity and focus on strengthening the party’s grassroots support ahead of the 2026 general elections.
“This process has been about identifying leaders who represent the true aspirations of their communities. We are now ready to hit the ground running,” he said.
Party officials also called upon supporters across Teso to rally behind the endorsed flag bearers as the official campaign period draws closer.
The release of the list now clears the way for candidates to secure party endorsements on their nomination papers from the NUP headquarters in Makerere-Kavule, Kampala, marking a key step toward their formal participation in the 2026 parliamentary race.
