The Anglican Bishop of Soroti Diocese, Rt. Rev. Kosea Odongo, has called on Christians to embrace humanity, devotion, and total dependence on God, reminding believers that all blessings come from the Lord.
Bishop Odongo made the call during a service at Halcyon High School, Soroti campus, where he conducted order of confirmation service and confirmed 52 students including 29 girls and 23 boys into the Eucharistic life.

The colorful event was further blessed with a prayer dinner, the blessing of 211 Senior Six and 658 Senior Four candidates.

In his sermon, the Bishop urged Christians to live responsibly, pursue holiness, and remain committed to Christ, whom he described as the true challenger and source of every blessing.
“You are not a product of accident; you are here by God’s grace and anointment. Without God, you can do nothing, but with Him all things are possible,” he said.

He also encouraged believers to be agents of peace and unity in their communities.
“Whenever you enter a home, speak peace into that family. Whatever you do, create peace, because the peace you sow will remain with them and return to you,” Bishop Odongo emphasized, referencing Luke 10:1–9 on the spiritual harvest.
Addressing the candidates preparing for final examinations, the Bishop encouraged them to combine prayer with hard work.
“There is no success without struggle, no testimony without a test, and no victory without a battle. Even for me to become a bishop, I fought many battles,” he said, urging students to focus, remain holy, and strive for excellence.
He thanked parents for supporting their children’s education and Halcyon schools for their commitment to quality learning.
He also praised the teaching staff for their dedication, noting that Halcyon has consistently excelled in national examinations.
The headteacher, Mr. Onyait Paul Mark, expressed gratitude to the Bishop for blessing the students and thanked parents for their continued sacrifices. He admitted that the school may sometimes seem demanding on fees but promised accountability.
He also recalled the Bishop’s last visit, where prayers were followed by an outstanding performance that ranked the school 42nd nationally.
Looking ahead, Mr. Onyait announced a cash reward scheme for UACE candidates who excel: UGX 300,000 for 20 points, UGX 200,000 for 19 points, and UGX 100,000 for 18 points.
Parents’ representative, Mr. Francis Ejiku Atim, thanked teachers and management for nurturing learners, the Bishop for his spiritual guidance, and the school proprietor for establishing Halcyon schools.
He urged parents not to send children outside Teso for studies, saying quality schools are available within the region.
On behalf of the students, Akello Veronica expressed gratitude to parents for their sacrifices and appealed to fellow candidates to work hard, seek forgiveness where necessary, and achieve results that will honor their families.
