The Bishop of Kotido Catholic Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dominic Eibu, and the Bishop of Soroti Catholic Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Eciru Oliach, have called on Christians to strengthen their faith, listen to God’s voice, and resist the lure of false prophets who threaten to weaken the moral fabric of society.
The two Prelates delivered the strong messages of guidance and caution during separate homilies in Soroti, each underscoring the importance of authentic faith, unity, and the transmission of values from one generation to another.

While presiding over Holy Mass at Immaculate Conception Cathedral Parish in Soroti, Bishop Eibu warned Christians against witchcraft and practices that contradict the essence of faith in Christ.

He reminded the congregation that Christianity calls for obedience to God and love for Him above all else.
“Our faith requires that we love God beyond all things and reject any form of witchcraft. Witchcraft does not give life but instead leads to spiritual destruction,” Bishop Eibu emphasized.

He further cautioned Christians against bearing false witness against their neighbors, noting that lies and slander erode both personal integrity and community trust.
Bishop Eibu also urged believers to embrace positive role models within their faith journey, imitating the life of Jesus Christ, who remained steadfast even in suffering.
“We must have faith like Jesus, who obeyed His Father even to the point of death on the Cross. That faith should inspire us to stand firm in truth and righteousness,” he said.
The Kotido prelate also condemned divisions within the Church, urging Christians to desist from fighting among themselves or attacking religious leaders.
Such actions, he warned, weaken the body of Christ and strip believers of their dignity.
“Even when you are ridiculed for doing the right thing, never compromise. Accept to lose your dignity for the sake of Christ, just like He accepted humiliation on the Cross for our salvation,” Bishop Eibu told the faithful.
He concluded his homily by challenging Christians not to allow their faith to be shaken but to remain close to God at all times, especially in a world full of distractions and competing voices.
In a related spiritual message, Bishop Joseph Eciru Oliach of Soroti Diocese delivered a powerful homily during the Centenary Celebrations of Agora Catholic Church in Soroti City.
The event, which marked 100 years of Catholic evangelization in the area, drew thousands of faithful from across Teso and neighboring regions.
Bishop Eciru praised the resilience of the Catholic community in keeping the faith alive for a century but warned that the next challenge lies in passing that same faith to the younger generation.
“The beauty of the Catholic Church is that it is One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic. It is therefore our duty to hand down this faith to our children and grandchildren. The Church should not die in our homes or communities,” Bishop Eciru declared.
He cautioned against transmitting what he called “dead faith,” urging believers to ensure that their Christian witness is vibrant, life-giving, and transformative in their communities.
“Faith should not just be a tradition but a living testimony that changes livelihoods and society,” he stressed.
The Soroti bishop further noted that after a century of evangelization, the Church in Teso must be as firm as a mountain, resilient, unshaken, and radiant with hope. He warned Christians not to fall prey to false prophets who promise quick solutions but lack the authority of Christ.
“False prophets cannot lead you to salvation. They only exploit your fears and weaknesses. Remain grounded in the Catholic faith, which has stood the test of time for over 2,000 years,” he emphasized.
In his pastoral appeal, Bishop Eciru also encouraged Catholic couples to embrace the Sacrament of Matrimony as a path to holiness and as a way of strengthening family life.
“A Catholic home rooted in marriage and faith becomes a foundation of God’s glory. Families that are united in faith will ensure that our Church continues to grow strong,” he said.
The combined messages from Bishops Eibu and Eciru highlighted the need for renewal, authenticity, and unity within the Catholic community in Teso.
Both leaders warned of spiritual threats such as witchcraft, false prophecy, and division, while at the same time urging believers to embrace positive models of faith, transmit values to the next generation, and remain steadfast in the face of challenges.
