The Soroti Catholic Diocese was filled with joy and celebration as three deacons were ordained into the priesthood and one seminarian to the diaconate in a colorful and spirit-filled ceremony at St. Andrew Catholic Parish, Obalanga.
The Mass was presided over by Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Eciru Oliach, Bishop of Soroti Catholic Diocese, who called on the newly ordained to dedicate their lives to evangelization and service.

“Use your energies and invest time in making Jesus known and loved,” Bishop Eciru urged. “Let your dreams be about how to make Jesus known, loved, and served. Even if it means walking on foot, preach the Gospel boldly. Even when attacked, no retreat, no surrender.”

The ordained include: Rev. Fr. Denis Egili, from St. Kizito’s Parish, Katine, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Odongo (MHM), from St. Patrick’s Parish, Madera, Rev. Fr. Gerald Emmanuel Ongodia, from Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Kidetok and Rev. Deacon Bosco Oumen, from Holy Cross Parish, Ongutoi
Thousands of faithful attended the joyful event, with choirs, traditional music, and vibrant ululations marking the celebration.

The ordination marks a significant step in the Diocese’s mission to strengthen evangelization and pastoral outreach across Teso.
