With less than two weeks to the NRM primaries, the political landscape in Serere County is shifting dramatically in favor of the incumbent MP, Hon. Emmanuel Omoding.
In a major show of strength over 200 supporters have abandoned rival camp and former aspirant to join Omoding’s team signaling growing confidence in his leadership.

Titus Okello, the Chairperson of the NRM Entrepreneurship League in Serere District, announced that 83 supporters from Okwii Emmah’s camp and 118 from Philip Oucor’s camp have officially shifted their allegiance to Omoding.

The declaration was made during a vibrant rally at Kakusi ward in Serere Town Council as Omoding intensified his mobilization ahead of the NRM primaries scheduled for 17th July.
Okwii Emmah is one of the candidates vying for the NRM flag in Serere County, competing against Hon. Omoding and others.

Meanwhile, Philip Oucor who previously held the NRM flag for Serere County has now shifted his focus to contesting in Pingire County leaving his original supporters looking for a new political home.
Speaking at Kakusi, Okello reassured the defectors that they had made the right choice by joining Omoding’s camp.
He described Hon. Omoding as a unifying leader who welcomes all people regardless of their previous affiliations.
According to Okello, Omoding possesses a clear vision for Serere and remains accessible and approachable to his constituents.
“You have not joined the wrong team. You are now on the right track with a leader who represents unity, development and he is approachable,” Okello said.
He further urged the new supporters to remain steadfast and encourage others to rally behind Omoding on polling day.
Among the notable defectors was Isaac Newton Ogwang, who narrated his political journey.
Initially, Ogwang supported Philip Oucor but decided to join Okwii Emmah’s camp after Oucor shifted to Pingire.
However, he soon realized that his aspirations and expectations were not being met prompting him to finally join Omoding’s camp.
“I did not see any progress in Okwii’s camp. That’s why I decided to cross over to Hon. Omoding who I believe has a clear plan for our people,” Ogwang explained.
Stephen Otage, the NRM District Vice Chairperson for Serere also echoed Okello’s message urging all former Oucor supporters to unite under Omoding’s leadership to secure victory in the upcoming primaries.
Otage highlighted that this united front is crucial to ensuring continued development and service delivery in Serere County.
During the rally, Hon. Omoding visited several key areas including Kakusi ward, Okulonyo ward, Kikota ward, Abilayep and Serere upper shops.
At each stop he was received with overwhelming excitement, songs and dances from supporters who composed special welcome songs in his honor.
The vibrant atmosphere reflected the growing momentum behind his campaign as the election date draws closer.
Omoding in his address to the crowds expressed gratitude to the new supporters and pledged to continue serving all constituents with dedication and integrity.
As the NRM primaries approach Hon Omoding seeks to secure the NRM flag and continue his leadership journey in Serere County.
