Hon. Musa Francis Ecweru, the State Minister for Works, Member of Parliament for Amuria Constituency and Amuria NRM District Chairperson, was yesterday received with a heroic and warm welcome by supporters in Kuju Sub-County.
This reception came as part of his campaign trail during the ongoing NRM primaries where he visited various parishes across Kuju sub county.

Addressing large crowds, Minister Ecweru pledged to drive economic transformation and community empowerment by focusing on key sectors such as education, health, service delivery, peace and unity, poverty alleviation and road infrastructure development within Amuria Constituency.

Ecweru emphasized that his bid to return to Parliament is rooted in a desire to fully represent the people of Amuria in the 11th Parliament and to ensure that the Teso sub-region receives a significant share of national development.
“Let’s vote for a leader whose voice is heard and respected by the government, when I speak, the government listens and responds but if we elect a leader without a voice, our region will continue to suffer,” Ecweru told the people of Kuju.

He further advised voters to make wise decisions and not be swayed by financial incentives.
“We need a peaceful transition to, let no one destabilize the country, we don’t want to return to the days of camps,” he added.
In a significant boost to education, Hon. Ecweru pledged the construction of a girls’ dormitory at Kuju Seed Secondary School.
The dormitory will be supported with over 640 bags of cement and the building will accommodate 200 girls.
“This initiative is aimed at promoting girl child education because many of the girls drop out due to walking long distances and unsafe bushy routes, which expose them to risks such as rape and early pregnancy,” Ecweru said.
He assured that construction would begin as soon as the cement is delivered.
Furthermore, he pledged UGX 1.5 million for the purchase of goalposts to support co-curricular activities in the school such as football and netball and a bull to mark the school’s 10 year anniversary for the celebrations scheduled next year.
Ecweru also committed to bringing solar lighting systems to Kuju Sub County and the wider Amuria Constituency to improve safety and accessibility in rural areas.
The Minister recognized the acute water shortage in the region and promised to lobby for more borehole drilling.
“Amuria District had a deficit of over 121 boreholes, with only 98 drilled so far, I will push for more to be drilled,” he said.
He also called on the people of Kuju to support him fully in the upcoming NRM primaries, urging for free and fair elections and encouraging voters to exercise their democratic rights.
Kuju Seed Secondary School headteacher, Mr. Ojangole Martin Timothy, expressed immense gratitude for the Minister’s donation.
“I want to thank the Minister for this contribution, it allows us to lay a strong foundation for the school through the girls’ hostel,” Ojangole said.
However, he also highlighted ongoing challenges at the school including limited ICT resources, with only 6 computers serving over 300 students, inadequate staff accommodation, forcing teachers to live far and affecting lesson preparation, lack of a library, inadequate pit latrines, insufficient chairs and desks, only 26 teachers are currently employed, with no housing units for teaching staff, causing delays in morning lessons due to transport and weather challenges.
Mr. Ojangole appealed to Minister Ecweru to continue advocating for more resources through the Ministry of Education and Sports, a pledge the Minister promised to honor.
