Liverpool Football Club has confirmed the tragic death of their forward, Diogo Jota, in a road traffic accident in Spain.
The 28-year-old Portuguese international was killed alongside his brother, Andre, in what the club described as an “unimaginable loss.”

The incident reportedly occurred late Tuesday night on a highway outside Porto, near the Spanish border.

Although details of the crash remain limited, local authorities in Spain have confirmed that two occupants of a private vehicle died at the scene following a collision with a lorry.
Spanish police said an investigation is under way to establish the exact cause of the crash.

In a brief but emotional statement, Liverpool FC said: “Liverpool Football Club are devastated by the tragic passing of Diogo Jota.

Anfield flew its flags at half-mast this morning in tribute to the popular forward.
Jota joined Liverpool from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2020 for a reported £45 million.
Quickly winning over fans with his relentless pressing, technical skill, and knack for scoring in big games, Jota became a key figure in Jurgen Klopp’s attack.
He scored over 50 goals for Liverpool in all competitions, helping the club win the FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and push for Premier League and Champions League glory.
