A high-powered delegation of leaders from Koboko Municipality, Koboko District, Yumbe District, and Maracha District gathered today at the Koboko District Chambers to endorse David Calvin Echodu for the NRM Eastern Region Vice Chairmanship.
Dramiga Samanya welcomed the delegates and guests, praising Echodu’s humility and commitment to grassroots engagement.

“I’m proud of Calvin, it’s a surprise to see a leader like him coming down to earth,” Samanya said.

He highlighted the challenges faced by leaders, emphasizing the need for sustainability in party structures and requesting Echodu to prioritize the agenda of the people of West Nile.
The Chairperson lamented the state of party structures, describing them as “so bad and frustrated.”

He urged Echodu to advocate for amendments to the Local Government Act to empower them to oversee government projects.
The delegates baptized Echodu as “Echoni,” meaning “the able one” in the West Nile local dialect endorsing him as their candidate.
Ambassador Nelson Ocheger praised Echodu’s dedication to the party and government, highlighting his contributions to fighting malaria and improving education.
“Calvin has worked tirelessly with the government and party to support better education and fight malaria,” Ocheger said.
“He has worked closely with the President and the party for the betterment of the party.” Ocheger described Echodu as a charming and humble person who has worked with stakeholders in Teso, Karamoja, Lango and parts of West Nile like Adjumani to improve lives.
Echodu expressed gratitude for the endorsement, describing himself as a man of action.
“President Museveni has done well, but new challenges require new energy,” he said.
He pledged to work with the party to support leaders’ mobility and outlined plans for cadre development, training, and deployment, as well as establishing Saccos for leaders’ structures.
A senior citizen and Chairperson of the Elders League in Maracha emphasized that Echodu’s words resonated deeply with the desires of the people.
“Once you see a frog during dry season, then realize that there’s a problem,” he said.
He further said that he was part of the 5th parliament and is now ready to also bring his last breathe vibe for Calvin and the NRM.
“Because of NRM, I finished studying, and during the times of insurgency, I studied S3 for 3 years till NRM came.”
He highlighted the importance of new leadership, stating that the transition must happen with clear-headed people like Calvin, not those who would lead the party astray.
The delegates unanimously endorsed Echodu for the NRM Eastern Region Vice Chairmanship, pledging their support behind his leadership aspirations.
