Daniel Mulalu, the Private Secretary in charge of Political Mobilization to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Executive Director of the Kazi Ni Kazi Foundation, has broken his silence regarding his much-anticipated participation in the upcoming National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries for the Ngariam County seat in Katakwi District.

While speaking to our reporter, Mulalu clarified his political position and issued a stern warning to opponents and propagandists spreading misinformation about his candidature.

He confirmed that he will officially contest in the 2025 NRM primaries under the party ticket and dismissed as “baseless” and “cowardly” claims that he intends to run as an independent candidate.

“I am going to contest under the NRM, and I am confident I will win with a big margin,” Mulalu declared. “Those propagandists will be ashamed. The President has already cleared my resignation letter, and I am coming. I call upon the people of Ngariam not to participate in election violence.”

Mulalu’s announcement puts to rest weeks of speculation that he was undecided or considering an independent bid.

The youthful mobilizer emphasized that his loyalty to the NRM is unwavering and rooted in years of consistent service.

A long-standing member of the ruling party, Mulalu detailed his political journey, which began in 2011.

Since then, he has served diligently on the NRM National Taskforce, representing both the Teso and Karamoja sub-regions.

His work in mobilization and grassroots organization has made him a visible and vocal advocate for the NRM and its policies, particularly in Eastern Uganda.

“I work directly under the Office of the President, who is also the National Chairman of the NRM Party,” Mulalu said. “I have been actively involved in NRM mobilization since 2011. My track record is clear, and the people know who I am and what I stand for.”

He added that claims questioning his party allegiance were being orchestrated by political opponents “afraid of his popularity and influence.”

“Let the people of Ngariam listen to me directly or read my verified statements. Political cowards are circulating falsehoods because they fear what I represent, change, service, and a youth-driven agenda.”

Mulalu urged his political rivals to elevate the level of political discourse in the region by focusing on the issues that matter to the people of Ngariam, instead of engaging in smear campaigns and mudslinging.

“Let them come and tell the people what they plan to do. Let’s debate development, health, roads, youth employment, not lies and character assassination,” he said.

With the 2026 general elections looming, the NRM primaries in Ngariam are expected to be hotly contested.

Mulalu is set to face stiff competition from incumbent MP and Junior Sports Minister Peter Ogwang, as well as fellow State House staffer Augustine Otuko.

However, Mulalu appears unfazed, expressing confidence in the support he enjoys among the grassroots.

Speaking on the recent NRM grassroots elections, Mulalu said he was pleased with the outcome, which he described as a “people’s victory.”

According to him, despite efforts by some actors to disrupt the process with money and influence, the people of Katakwi stood firm and voted overwhelmingly for pro-people leaders aligned with his Kazi Ni Kazi development philosophy.

“We massively won by an overwhelming 89%, despite the money that was spent. That brings joy to me,” he said. “Those who wanted to cause confusion were put to shame by God.”

Mulalu attributed the victory to the unity and determination of the people who want development-oriented leadership.

“It shows that the people understand who is with them and who is not. The leaders elected in these grassroots polls are champions of service and transformation,” he added.

Mulalu’s Kazi Ni Kazi Foundation has grown in popularity across the Teso sub-region.

The initiative focuses on youth empowerment, job creation, vocational skills training, and community development, an approach that has won him admiration, especially among the youth and women.

His entry into the parliamentary race under the NRM ticket is widely seen as a bid to scale up these grassroots efforts by leveraging legislative influence.

“Kazi Ni Kazi is not just a slogan. It’s a movement to empower our people through work, dignity, and opportunity,” Mulalu explained. “I am entering this race to amplify that vision and bring services closer to our communities.”

As the political temperature begins to rise in Ngariam ahead of the primaries, Mulalu called for calm and discouraged acts of violence or intimidation.

He appealed to both supporters and rivals to uphold peace and unity throughout the electoral process.

“Let us not allow elections to divide us. Ngariam is our home, and we all want to see it move forward. Let’s compete with ideas, not fists,” he said.

With his official resignation approved by President Museveni and his political intentions now publicly declared, Daniel Mulalu is expected to hit the campaign trail in the coming weeks.

As one of the youngest and most dynamic figures in Katakwi politics, his entry adds excitement to an already tense NRM primary race.

Observers believe the contest in Ngariam will be one of the most closely watched battles in the Teso sub-region, as it pits seasoned politicians against a rising generation of NRM loyalists eager to take the mantle of leadership.

As Mulalu gears up to challenge his former ally within the party, one thing is clear, Ngariam’s political landscape is about to witness a high-stakes contest driven by ambition, ideology, and the people’s desire for effective representation.
