Soroti-Based Lawyer Endorses Mike Mukula for NRM Vice Chairman Eastern Region

Soroti-based lawyer Joshua Okello has thrown his support behind Hon. Dr. Flight Captain Mike Mukula for the position of NRM Vice Chairman Eastern Region, urging voters to choose experience, leadership, and unity in the upcoming elections.
Mukula currently faces stiff competition from David Calvin Echodu, the Soroti City West NRM Flagbearer and Defense Minister Jacob Oboth Oboth.
Okello, in a statement, emphasized the importance of electing leaders who can bridge political divides and foster unity in the region.
With many elections approaching, he noted that every vote counts, especially as candidates present differing visions for the future.
However, he expressed concern over the increasing political polarization that often leaves communities divided.
“Politics is often presented as a conversation between winners and losers, those who are for and those who are against a particular issue. No one wins in the long run when we are so divided that we leave half of us behind,” Okello stated.
“More than ever, we need leaders willing to cross lines, close the divide, and bring people together to solve the challenges we face.”
According to Okello, tackling the pressing issues of the region will require a leader with the ability to collaborate, inspire, and engage in difficult conversations.
He firmly believes that Mukula possesses these qualities, citing his vast experience in politics, leadership, and governance.
“I have a foundational belief that brave, honest conversations are how we solve the problems in our world. The world needs a leader who stands for something you also believe in and who will work with others to create positive change. That leader is none other than Hon. Dr. Flight Captain Mike Mukula,” Okello declared.
He further stressed the need for experienced leadership, arguing that governance should not be entrusted to individuals with no prior experience in leadership roles.
“You cannot give a learner to drive people for a thousand miles; that will eventually put the lives of voters or people at stake,” he remarked.
Okello urged voters to recognize Mukula’s extensive political and academic experience, which, in his view, makes him the most suitable candidate for the NRM Vice Chairman position in the Eastern Region.
He warned against electing candidates who lack leadership experience, stating, “Don’t vote for someone who has no experience of leadership or who has never even been an LC 1 in the community.”
The lawyer also dismissed any notion that political disengagement is acceptable, arguing that individuals who show no interest in politics have no business seeking leadership positions.
“None of those who want to aspire for the same position has experience like Hon. Dr. Flight Captain Mike Mukula,” he asserted.
In his final remarks, Okello described Mukula as a leader who embodies key qualities of effective leadership, including self-awareness, humility, curiosity, and compassion.
“Mike Mukula is a good leader in many things: self-aware, humble, curious, compassionate. Above all, he is a leader who fosters connection, not division,” he concluded.
